London Riots Beginning

In our first lesson we were separate into 2 groups. Lewis, Tom, Rhiannon & I were in a group and the rest in another group. We then came up with a piece based on a hierarchy structure within gangs. In this piece I played a young gang member who tries to fit in but they abuse him and no matter what, he tries to fit in with them. We are going to use this at the beginning of the piece and then go into freeze frames and then start to move around like monkey’s (as it’s how rioters were described in the media). We then freeze one by one and then form a line and start to taunt the audience. The reason we done this is so that the audience is feeling threatened and intimidated – like the police officers who were on duty during the riots.

We also researched into stories and images that are on the news. I find it rather disrespectful and rather insane at how many people you would look up too and yet they were involved with the looting etc. Yet, I’m sure some of the people didn’t really know better as they have lived a life of crime or have been brought up in a rough area in London, however, that is no excuse to loot and rob companies from their products.
